It
depends on the day, but for me this and Rubber Soul are interchangeable. Even
George Harrison said he viewed them as Part 1 and 2 of the same album.
2. “Rubber Soul" - The Beatles
When
the Beatles progressed from being a great pop band to music icons. Revolver was
recorded just a few months later.
3. "Katy Lied” - Steely Dan
Yeah,
I know Aja is the popular choice, but this was just my favorite Steely Dan
album for years. Aja is great and Count Down to Ecstasy and Royal Scam and..
well , all of them.
4. "Let It Be... Naked" - The Beatles
Great
stripped down rock & roll. I'm so thankful McCartney decided to strip the
Spector Wall of Sound arrangements and re-mix this classic.
5. “The Beatles [White Album]” - The Beatles
For those who put forth the argument that it would have been a better one disc album, I say, go down the list and pick out 12 or so songs that you could now do without. I bet you can't do it. ... And to echo Paul, "We put it out, it sold… It's the bloody Beatles White album. Now shut up!"
6. "Kind of Blue" - Miles Davis
Hard
to pick a single Miles album, but man, this one just always works.
7. "Hejira" - Joni Mitchell
Jaco
and Joni, but yeah mostly Jaco.
8. "Jaco Pastorious" - Jaco Pastorious
It
only changed the way electric bass was played. Other than that, a pretty
awesome album.
9. "Revelator" - Tedeschi Trucks Band
Awesome
grooves, soulful singing and one of best slide players of all time.
10. "Truth" - Robben Ford
I
had to pick something for Disc 10 and this is one of current favorites. 10 is
too short for this list. Can't I just count all the Beatles albums as one
choice?
